Relationship Counselling |
A healthy relationship can be described as each person feeling loved and supported, and where conflict can be managed through good communication. Relationships also flourish when there is room for enjoyment and growth, both as a couple and as an individual. Unfortunately, often life stresses, conflicts, or past experiences, can have an impact on our relationships. This can lead to a breakdown in communication and how you feel or behave towards each other. You may feel your life has become more about ‘existing’ rather than ‘living’. You or your partner may also be coming to terms with a realisation that your relationship is ‘not what you thought it was’. Common issues are: communication difficulties ; trust & jealousy issues; attachment issues; adapting to change ; low self esteem & confidence issues; stress & anxiety; depression; work difficulties; the impact of illness or addiction; grief & loss; affairs (emotional & sexual); and coming to terms with the ending of a relationship. How can Relationship Counselling help? I work with both individuals and couples, offering a safe and neutral space to explore both your relationship with yourself and your partner through a different lens. Counselling can help you navigate through your conflict; to recognise your own and your partner’s patterns and triggers; and to develop a new way of interacting together. We can work towards a stronger sense of self; conflict resolution; rebuilding of trust and an improved sense of well-being within your relationship. This can include short or long term work. Separation & Divorce I am experienced in working with individuals or couples who are either exploring or going through the emotionally challenging process of separation or divorce. I can offer support throughout this process and afterwards, in working through the loss of the relationship and towards a point of acceptance and understanding. Counselling can also help you to prepare emotionally for future relationships.
